HIP 2 SOUL are a dynamic, seasoned four-piece dance band based in Cairns, North Queensland Australia.

They are skilled musicians playing real instruments to a very high standard (no sequencing or miming here), playing songs that people know and can dance to. It can be seen in their consistent energy, polished performance and dedication to the event.

They understand the delicate balance between all parties concerned with a corporate function and so have put together a list of songs to cover early evening dining (tasty jazz/ Latin) through to “party time” when your clients will be dancing to the grooviest soul / funk rock dance music.

A typical corporate event with Hip 2 Soul could see the band start off the quiet part of the evening playing light jazz, or seated across the front of the stage on stools playing in an “unplugged” type format with percussion rather than a drum kit. As the night progresses so does the band, as they “rev it up” into full dance band mode encouraging clients to sing along and party the night away.

Hip 2 Soul, have become one of the resident bands at the Vertigo Bar, Sofitel Reef Casino in Cairns. They travel extensively now that they have become one of the sort after corporate function bands, with many years of Corporate Event /Hotel and Concert experience to draw from. They are the pick of the musicians of Cairns, and have all had, varying degrees of success individually on the national music front.

The core band comprises of … AD on lead vocals / harmonica,

                                 Wayne McIntosh on Guitar / vocals,

                                 Kerry Bennet on Bass /vocals and

                                 Laurie Ernst on Drums /Vocals/ percussion.

Speciality musicians, such as our female singer or singers,  keyboards, Brass section etc, can be added when required, so that an even wider range of sound and presence can be achieved.

This leaves no doubt that any audience lucky enough to get to party along with the band will have a great night out, and enjoy what is Cairns, premier Rock/Soul/ Funk dance band
